The Forecast
In New Zealand:
- Aging population + people living longer =
- By 2021 there will be more people over 65+ than people under 15
- In 2006 'Older Adults' made up 12% of the population, by 2021 that will increase to 25%
- By 2040, the numbers of people with dementia will double to reach 73,000
Globally:
- A global epidemic is predicted
- By 2040, the numbers of people with Alzheimers or another form of dementia will have tripled to reach 81,000,000.
