Since 1985, Alzheimers Auckland has been providing vital support services towards improving the quality of life for all people affected by dementia living in our area, which includes Central Auckland, West Auckland, the North Shore, Rodney District and Waiheke Island.

We rely on the generosity of the community to help fund our services. 

The majority of our funding is through fundraising, sponsorship and donations. With your ongoing support we can contine and expand our services to meet the growing needs in the community.

This year we need to raise over $600,000 to maintain services.

How Will Your Donation Help Others?

Your donation will help us to:

  • Provide information, advice and education to people with dementia and their carers
  • Run over 30 monthly Carer Support Groups in Rodney, North Shore, Central City and Waitakere
  • Operate our Home-based Dementia Support Service providing essential respite to the Carer and benefiting the person with dementia through a personalised programme
  • Increase awareness and understanding of these devastating diseases and advocate for people affected by them.

Make a Donation

There are several options to donate to Auckland Alzheimers Inc:

  • Donate on-line through a secure credit card transaction
  • Call us on freephone 0800 004 001 or (09) 622 4230 and donate using your  credit card or set up an automatic debit from your bank account.
  • Send an email to info@alzheimers.co.nz and we will contact you.
  • By sending a cheque to Auckland Alzheimers Inc, PO Box 24237, Auckland
  • Make a bequest.

Donations of $5 and over will be receipted and are tax deductable.

The "Forget Me Not" Club - Monthly Giving

We rely on people like you in the commuity to provide us with ongoing, loyal support. Regular monthly giving allows us to plan ahead and make the best use of resources to help people impacted by Alzheimers and other dementias.

By donating monthly, you will be joining a special group who make a tangible difference to improve the quality of life for people with dementia, their carers, family and whanau twelve months a year.

We will send you annual receipts (or more frequently if you require) and regular updates on progress made possible by your gift.

Annual Appeal

Alzheimers Awareness and Appeal week occurs in July.  Our main initiative is Cuppa for a Cause, and we also need collectors for outside supermarkets in the area.

 What is Cuppa for a Cause?

The Cuppa for a Cause is based on the simple theory of enjoying a morning or afternoon tea with a group of friends, workplace collegues or club members and everyone brings a small donation.  

Community feedback indicates this is a very simple and enjoyable way of helping Alzheimers Auckland and some groups have extended their Cuppas into quiz nights, a Who's Who baby photo competition, cuppa champagne and a luncheon bake-off with prizes going to the best savoury and sweet entry. 

Each year we aim to increase the number of Cuppas. So help us to break a record and start thinking now of the type of Cuppa you might like to hold for our Annual Appeal.

Bequests

You can make a very significant difference to the lives of people affected by Alzheimers and other dementias, by supporting Alzheimers Auckland in your will.  Bequests to Alzheimers Auckland are a long-lasting legacy.

There are several ways in which you can make a gift in your will:

  • you can nominate that you want to leave part or all of what is left from your Estate (the residue) to Alzheimers Auckland
  • you can leave a percentage or fraction of  your Estate to Alzheimers Auckland
  • or you can leave a specified sum.

We advise that you consult your lawyer or Trust office regarding this and you may alter the terms of your bequest at any time.

If you have already made your will, you may add a codicil - an amendment  -  which gives your instructions for a bequest to Alzheimers Auckland.

Following is an example of a bequest clause in a will:

"I give to Alzheimers Auckland Incorporated the sum of $..................... (or x% of my residuary estate/the balance of my estate) for the general purpose of Alzheimers Auckland Inc for which the receipt of the Chairman or other officer shall be full and sufficient discharge to my trustees."

Donations in Memory and In-Lieu

You may wish to remember a close friend or family member by making a donation in their memory. This is a positive way to celebrate their life through helping Alzheimers Auckland Inc to make a difference to others in the future.

Donations in-lieu of flowers at funerals are also a positive way to mark the passing of a loved one.

Payroll Giving

You can now donate directly from your payroll and receive your 33% tax credits straight away. For example for every $10 that you give you will get $3.30 back!(subject to meeting tax criteria).
