THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
Alzheimers Auckland Inc is very ably governed by an eight member Executive Committee. The Chairman of the Executive Committee is Sheryl Green who has a commitment to good governance and practice, openness and transparency, accountability, excellent staff and public relations, and a dedication to the processes that enable Alzheimers Auckland Inc to provide much-needed services.
Sheryl Green - Chairman
Sheryl Green joined the Alzheimers Auckland Executive Committee in 2007 and assumed the role of Chairman after the September 2008 AGM. Sheryl has held high-level sales and marketing positions in a variety of corporate environments, including Yellow Pages Group and TMP Worldwide. Her roles have established key competencies in leadership, financial management and strategy development. Sheryl brings a wide-ranging set of business skills to the Board of Alzheimers Auckland Inc and views her involvement as a way of giving back to the community.
Keith Knowles
Keith Knowles joined Alzheimers Auckland in 1986 when his wife was showing early signs of dementia and became a member of the Executive Committee in 1990. Keith has served in a variety of capacities including Board Member, Secretary and Treasurer. Keith has also held a Board position with the Alzheimers New Zealand board.
Jim Lonergan
Jim Lonergan retired in 2003 from a senior management position where he was resopnsbile for many staff. In addition to management, Jim has also gained Committee experience through serving on the Akarana Golf Club Committee for several years. Jim has been fulfilling the role of full time carer of his wife, Judith, until she recently went into a residential care facility. Jim remains an active participant in the Alzheimers Auckland Inc services.
Laurence Pope
Laurence (Larry) Pope is originally from England and served 17 years with the Royal Air Force as a Navigator. He arrived in New Zealand in 1966 and joined Air New Zealand where he was employed for a further 17 years. During the latter part of his career and in retirment, Larry has participated and served on various committees as secretary or treasurer for Lions, Probus, East Coast Bays Bridge Club and the Schizophrenia Fellowship.
Stephanie Maitland
Stephanie has been a fundraising professional for over 20 years and has been a self-employed consultant since June 2003. She is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) which is an internationally recognised certification that is based on knowledge, results, experience and service to the profession. She has been a member of the Fundraising Institute of New Zealand (FINZ) since 1991 and has held a number of volunteer roles within FINZ including National President. In 2008 she was named a Fellow of the Institute. This is the highest honour the Institute can bestow and acknowledges Stephanie’s deep commitment to both the Institute and fundraising.
Jacques Losken
Jacques has been involved with the Progressive Enterprises/Parnell Rotary Charity Golf day for several years as Progressive representative. Jacques brings to the board significant managment experience.
Lia Mattei
Lia comes to the Board bringing personal experience of dementia - her mother had the disease and was cared for at home. Lia has a strong business background, specialising in organisational development, training and development.
